RE: Crime Report in Michigan Campgounds... !!!
wow, thousands of campers, hundreds of campsites, and they found about 20 incident reports.
do you feel safe at the supermarket? check the incident reports for 6 months and see what you get. Cars broken in to while in the parking lot, folks being felt up by the pervs, etc. May even be with about the same percentage of occurence.
do you think your kids are safe at school? Lockers broken in to, folks being felt up by pervs, etc. May even be with about the same percentage of occurence.
local parks? folks being felt up by pervs, etc. May even be with about the same percentage of occurence.
Personal "Due Diligence" is the ONLY THING that protects you. You are ALWAYS in HARMS WAY, just how far off to the side is the only variable. Small towns, big cities, urban or suburban, crime exists.
Be smart, be aware, be cautious, be smart!
That was partly my reason for posting this... I think we assume a new level of safety, security, and trust when we enter campgrounds..
I think this just points out.. that thieves/criminals know this.. and can/will exploit it. We let our guard down a bit when camping.. it's a pretty well known fact.
Just gotta be a bit more cautious. Lock your stuff up.. Watch and know what your kids are up to.
RE: Crime Report in Michigan Campgounds... !!!
If you think these issues are confined to Michigan only.. I think you are going to be sadly disappointed. Just like here in Michigan.. You just never hear of any of the issues unless something like this is looked into.
I think we take a lot for granted when we set up camp in a campground.
Crime Report in Michigan Campgounds... !!!
Here is a report from WDIV out of Detroit regarding an investigation about Campground Crime... rarely do we hear about crime and I know we all feel safer and let our children run a bit more free...
Here is a SHORT VIDEOfrom WDIV Channel 4 and it details some of the types of crimes and where.
RE: RV Stolen From Forest River - help please
I would send your story to consumerist.com and see if that can get some attention. it is a very large and popular sight. It will typically stir up some attention that may help you.
RE: Travel Trailer Freeway bounce or hop
I-94 between I-69 and Jackson in Michigan is really bad.
I think the issue has to do with the uneven concrete sections. I notice it only in the right lane where all the truck run. The left lane is smoooooth.
It seems the cause is, in part, from the length of the concrete sections relative to the length of your wheelbase from the rear axle to the axles of the TT and the uneven concrete. It ends up timing the bounce pretty good that it just about rips your teeth out.
RE: State Parks and sewer hookups
I am glad they don't have sewer hookups. If you have a blackwater tank, you don't need them, you are self-contained. Oh, woe is me if I don't have every convenience avaialable at my fingertips. Just leaves more NICE sites for the rest of us that don't like to be packed in like sardines, which is what would happen. It is EXPENSIVE to run sewer lines, and most of the state parks I stay at don't have sewer avaialable but rely on septic tanks. You can't have 150 sewer hookups in that scenerio!
Wow... And I thought I was a bit brash in some of my comments....
BTW.. MOST state parks and even private parks that DO have sewer hook ups still use a septic system.
RE: Tucson Dealer won't honor E-Bay Auction- Advice
The Consumerist picked up the story today. I had to laugh out loud when I saw the picture they used!
I submitted the story to Consumerist.com a couple days ago... If there is any place to expose BS deals, it is on that site.
It's yours to push...
You are getting the exposure you need without lawyers.. Now it will become an issue of bad press.
Good Luck.
RE: Tucson Dealer won't honor E-Bay Auction- Advice
Two sides to every story. I would love to hear the dealers side.
Another note, and I'm sure this will offend JaySki, but seriously I mean no offense. Just an observation/comment.
The DIGG story is the exact reason I tend not to belive these internet "I'm a victim" stories. You don't even have a dog in the fight so to speak, and yet you posted something negative about a dealer. IMHO the facts are not even known and yet there is a call for a massive smear campaign against this dealer.
Once again I mean no offense to you JaySki, it just points out my reason for not beliveing internet "I'm a victim". To mush mob mentality and to much band wagoning.
-rog
No offense taken, If nothing else, a lot of attention WILL get the truth out be it in favor of the "Victim" or the the other side.
Now, I think it can be safe to assume.. that most sales, corps, businesses, etc, are out to make money.. and as much as possible. Customer Service does not exist other than in a mission statement.
EBay is a binding contract and if the OP does lawyer up, the dealer likely wouldn't win. In MOST cases as in the BMW dealer issue I posted early on.. The dealer knows they are wrong and the cost of the bad publicity and the possibility of court FAR FAR out weighs the cost of doing what is right.
I will ALWAYS side with a consumer first and see where the cards may fall. The mere thought of giving any business the benefit of the doubt is why many many business get away with ripping consumers blind. If you aren't a smart consumer and willing to fight for what you pay for, then you will get ripped off. Simple. Even down to watching a restaurant bill and what you order vs. what they charge you for.
RE: Tucson Dealer won't honor E-Bay Auction- Advice
Can someone dig up the address and phone numbers to the dealer or even an email address?
I think a couple of inquiry calls are in order. Don't harass the dealer as it won't help OP's case, but I'd like to see if it is still available and what kind of info one can get from them RE that trailer.
All, please go to digg.com and digg the story, it is the only way to get traffic viewing the story.

RE: Tucson Dealer won't honor E-Bay Auction- Advice
Notice there is plastic on the carpeting in the picture with the bug bombs, yet none in the pics with the bees?
Also, in the second pic on the bench to the right, there are vents there. In the first and third pic, I don't see any.
It isn't the same trailer.
In all reality, we all know the BEE Story is bunk. They just threw out some zany ass story to indicate there was no way you were getting the trailer from them at that price. Kinda like when you were a kid and the girl was always "Washing her hair".
Based on principle, I'd fight the hell out of it.. for 2 reasons.. 1. the stupid bee excuse.. don't insult me. If you screwed up, let's talk and see if we can mediate a satisfactory resolution. 2. Nelson's listed it on auction with no reserve. You grew it, you chew it. They'd shove the stick up your behind given the chance.
RE: Tucson Dealer won't honor E-Bay Auction- Advice
This is a battle you can't win, and no lawyer worth having will tell you that. Go ahead, call some lawyers, tell em your story, then ask what chance you have of getting a $30,000.00 RV for $15,000.00 (after they stop laughing). Better yet, tell them to sue for damages and tell them you'll give em 50% of whatever amount they win. In simplest terms I can give you, you don't have a the elements necessary for a verbal contract, or anything written and signed. You don't have a contract, you have no case. And the fact that your deposit was returned untouched just reinforces his case.
I'm no expert on these matters, but based on what we see here about a similiar case where this happened with a BMW, as well as the thoughts of those that seem to know far more about this than you or I...It seems your comments here couldn't be further from the truth.
If not for the 'Senior' member status, I'd almost suspect bid_time here was affiliated with that dealer, and just trying the same scare tactics they did originally with the OP, LOL.
I guess it depends on whether the Ebay auction would be viewed as a legally binding contract. If so, then I'd think this dealer will get their a** handed to them if this went to court. If not, then indeed, OP is pretty much out of luck.
Will I would say the OP got exactly what he asked for, advice, 5 pages worth. I saw some advice on here that I thought was worth exactly what the OP paid for it. So I offered my opinion. As far as I am concerned, he can do what he wants, makes Nada difference to me. I can certainly make a prediction as to the final outcome though.
As for your reference to a "BMW Case", you have anything to put forth that there really was a "BMW case", what the particulars where, how it transnpired, and how it really turned out, or is this just hearsay? All court cases I know of are published, or they didn't really happen. I sure would be interested in reading the case. I am not to old to learn something new, but I am skeptical of claims that have nothing behind them.
There was no "Case"! if you'd take a bit of time to read it.. You'd figure that out. The winning bidder DID get a lawyer to help him out, but most of the pressure came from A LOT of negative publicity hitting the news and swarming the internet. The dealer figured the winning bidder wouldn't battle it out as, most are right, isn't worth the Legal costs. What that BMW Dealer DIDN'T count on was thousands and thousands of phone calls, bad publicity across any and every automotive forum. The dealer ended up relenting and giving him his car. Legally, the dealer is obligated to complete the transaction. And the OP SHOULD file a complaint with EBay. I submitted the story to DIGG.com as well. It all boils down to how bad the OP wants that trailer for 15K. He will have to fight for it, but it might be worth it in the end.
I think the dealer could have.. COULD have saved face by coming clean and not making up a bunch of BS.
This story could grow legs and really come to bite Nelson's RV in the rear.
Link to DIGG submission.
RE: Tucson Dealer won't honor E-Bay Auction- Advice
I would definitely start spreading the news around the Internet Forums.
I would also consult with your legal counsel.
I followed a VERY big deal regarding a BMW listed on eBay that ended lower than they had wanted(forgot the reserve). He fought and fought hard but the fact of the matter is.. It IS a contract, it IS binding, and you should get what you bid on and won.
It's going to be a battle and require sticking to your guns, so, it will boil down to how bad you want it.

RE: 5'er flipped on I-75 in Central Michigan
I really was trying to get more info to the Trailer and TV as i drove past, but it was difficult just trying to clear through traffic and snap a couple of photos..
can anyone tell from the Tail lights in the second pic or from teh full size version of the third?
5'er flipped on I-75 in Central Michigan
We were on our way home from Tawas Point State Park this morning and just south of Standish, MI on SB I-75 was a flipped 5'er on TV in the median. Police/Fire/Rescue were just getting to the scene so it was a new wreck. I was able to snap off some pictures and will post them tomorrow. I couldn't make out the Trailer or the TV as I was trying to manage through traffic but they were newer toys.
Be Safe out there.
It appeared the occupants were "OK". I saw a woman sitting in the grass being attended to and the Man is seen in one of the pics. I am sure they were shaken up and will be sore, but ortherwise.. OK.

RE: MH Loan Assumption Service
Ok.. So maybe I assumed a bit on this one.. My Apologies, but there have been a few threads lately that have had some people get pretty rude about people inquiring at some possible ways to get out from under the load..
I'd be willing to be though... He wasn't Cash Strapped when he made the purchase?? So I think there was a bit of assuming on both parts.
RE: MH Loan Assumption Service
If the potential buyer is cash strapped they shouldn't be buying a big ticket item like a motor home. A lot of people are learning a painful lesson right now about easy credit and buying more than they can afford.
right about there...
RE: MH Loan Assumption Service
WHY does this always have to turn into a "YOu shouldn't have been buying a big ticket item unless you pay cash" post?
If you feel that way and have bought your toys with cash.. congrats and keep your opinions to your self. I think many of the issues with defaults for toys is due to the eroding of the middle class. Living here in Michigan I have watched hundreds of thousands of jobs that made $20+ an hour be eliminated or cut in half. Tell me how that is THEIR fault? It may be tied to the automakers, and maybe they were over paid, but they earned it.. back in the 60's and 70's when no one wanted to work in those factories... Hanging hundreds of lb parts with no machines, no robots, no Air. The companies said.. You stay do the job and we'll give you a pension... and pay you. Yes it needed to correct to be competitive, but here are the results of the correction.. Forclosures, defaults on loans.. Can't change the wage base that is paying 200K for a modest house by half and still have him able to keep it all.
Shut up about the "you shouldn't have bought it" We all live the best way we can in any circumstance. Unless you are in their shoes.. Zip it.
RE: Besides screen dining tents and bug spray, what do you do
read a e-mail the other day about spraying Listerine (mouthwash???) around where you are sitting or on your chairs and supposable they hate it.....haven't tried it yet.
Whos want to be the first!
My Wife uses this and says it works.. She just jogs around where we will be sitting and sprays it around. I can honestly say that i didn't notice any mosquitoes after that, but I wasn;t really taking note of it either.
